Hello all,

My name's Yuri and I am a member of 'Taiji Together' - a small collective of Tai Chi Teachers (Kung Fu and Wingchun) in and around the Glastonbury area.

We orignally set up just to promote evening classes in our area, but things (like the Tao) keep unfolding and getting bigger.

We are hosting our very first 'Oriental Arts Day' on the 14th of June, at Walton Village Hall near Street (about 6 miles from Glastonbury). It is our very first public event so please wish us luck.

The event is 'FREE ENTRY' and lasts the entire day - 10.30am to 4.30pm and there will be demonstrations of a few different styles, hand forms and weapon forms (Straight sword, Broadsword, Spear, Kwandao, Fan etc) Adult and Children demos too; and some crowd participation. Please come along, to learn more visit this webpage,

http://taijitogether.co.uk/id21.html

I recently visited United Dojos in Taunton to a Paul Rogers Tai Chi applications workshop; I didn't know you guys existed until then. We hope to run an Oriental Arts Day every year, maybe next year you guys could have an hour to put on your own demonstrations? Or, organise your own Oriental Arts Day event - maybe we can work together?

Please check out our website, many things are happening. Apart from our regular classes we also run monthly workshops, a 'Push Hands' open night (once a month); We have a whole day next week on Taoist Alchemy, and Grandmaster Chen Xiao Wang is in Bristol in June - there is always something happening.

Japanese arts like Karate and Aikido, are often described as 'hard or external', Chinese arts like Tai Chi Chuan and Bagua, are often described as 'soft or internal' - but all are acknowledged as superior fighting arts - it would be good to work together, 'hard and soft' (North and South Somerset)

Best Wishes

and may the Tao be with you

Yuri.

Great, please bring 'United dojo' fliers and posters etc, we'll have a big table somewhere for clubs to advertise their leaflets on. See you on the day - and bring some friends.  Smile

I was thinking, I know the way to Street/Glastonbury area off by heart and I was thinking about going, so if anyone needs a lift or someone to follow, just ask me.

A quick update...

You guys are invited to come and put on some demonstrations of your own. We have 2 x 30 minutes slots that you could have to show your skills to a grateful audience!

Peace.
