Do you need to get/wear hakama at aikido. I saw last night most people were wearing them, is the a level thing or a choice thing?

You'll be invited to wear hakama when you show that you're training with "pure intent" usually it happens sometime around your first grading, however you don't have to wear it, although it's always fun watching someone train in one for the first time  Razz
